Restore the Patriarchy?

Should men be holding space for women, and do we need to restore the patriarchy? 

There is a growing number of young men leaving gyms. It doesn’t sound like much of a problem, but the reasons are strange. Many of them cited the fact that women in the gyms are too scantily clad. They’re tired of the tight, tight shorts and low cleavage making it hard to concentrate on why they went to the gym - to work out. One young man said to me, “How am I supposed to focus on my deadlift form when there’s a fine woman on her hands and knees in front of me doing leg raises?” Add to that the trend of women filming men who stare at them, or the trend of women approaching men for phone numbers, and it’s easy to see why men are leaving gyms and working out at home. 

It got me thinking about where these trends might lead. Given the global economy, the likelihood of global war - but a modernized, computerized version of it - and some undercurrents in modern feminism, I started to wonder what is happening and where it might go. 

This is my working hypothesis:  

A fundamental need of any higher order species from complex social societies is containment. There have to be externally imposed parameters on behavior. Dogs need it, bees need it, you can arguably see it even in blood cells where white blood cells are providing a safe environment for the red blood cells to function. It happens at varying degrees at all levels of sentient creation. Of course, human females are no different. However, they have been told a lie their entire lives and are trying to live out that lie - and of course it doesn’t work. Part of the lie is that they are strong and independent and don’t need men. Ironically, it’s in a woman’s nature to test men to see if they are safe and stable and good providers. Since they are the ones who take all of the physical risk in reproduction, they need to be certain that the men in their lives are stable so they can know they and their offspring will be safe and provided for. 

In sexual selection, human females will select men differently from how men select women. They will let the men stratify themselves according to local societal standards - best leaders, best warriors, highest earners, whatever the criteria - and skim off the top according to their own status of attractiveness, youth, fitness, intelligence, and social status. And a higher status man will have loads of these women trying to get his attention. This is why Leonardo DiCaprio dates dozens of young super models from wealthy families, while average guys marry “Beth” that we met at work - I’m exaggerating, but you get the picture. 

Currently, there is a movement, especially among Millennial women, where they are realizing what a lie feminism is. There are YouTube channels gaining thousands of followers, increasingly successful blogs, and general whispers around the coffee maker, that women aren’t happy with the life they’ve been told to live. They’re starting to see through the lie. I see it every single day in different women. They’re starting to see that their true power isn’t in being just like men, but in fully embracing their true womanhood and femininity. 

My hypothesis is that soon - probably within the next two years, but certainly five, there’s going to be a massive shift in different parts of Westernized culture. A lot of these young women who are acting like tramps and “boss bitches” will realize it’s completely false and they don’t want that life. But the damage will already be done. When they start thinking about the quality men they used to see at the gym who were polite and masculine and had good jobs and nice houses and drove nice cars - the ones who held that masculine space for them, they won’t be able to get one. They’ll be stuck either alone or with whatever simp or pervert they can seduce who doesn’t care that her lady bits are plastered all over the internet - she GOT her reward. 

And this is all going to be compounded when the global economy crashes. With global population collapse and the rise of AI, the need for females in the work force is going to plummet while skilled labor - jobs that women will not or cannot do - will be in huge demand. When that happens, any man who isn’t married, and even those who are, will have women beating down his door to be his wife.

This is kind of time that Jesus talks about in the parable of the maidens - ones who had oil in their lamps and ones who didn’t. The ones who did were ready when the bridegroom came, but they others ran out and missed him - and they were left behind.

That’s when the new stories will come out. 

I think you could say that times are different. In the past, women held a space for men because men were sent to fight battles and build societies. The solution of every government to any problem for all of human history was to throw men’s bodies at it until it went away. Women were left in villages, towns and cities, keeping the hearth warm for whatever men returned. In our time it’s reversed. Men’s bodies aren’t thrown at problems they way they used to be, but instead we’re throwing women’s bodies at the problematic death throws of late-stage capitalism. Our role as men now is to keep that hearth warm for them. 

And just like in times past when men came home with missing limbs, or blinded, or traumatized, and there were woman to care for them and even take them in as husbands even though they were highly undesirable, we may have to do the same thing. We probably shouldn’t wife them or give them children unless they’ve been fully healed, but they will need some place to go. And they will need men who are secure in their masculinity, in the truest sense, and who are able to embody the Christ within to help our sisters through the process. 

And we do all this by quietly and deliberately restoring the patriarchy. Not in tyranny as it often was in the past, but through Christ’s love, with greater wisdom and a clear vision for our future as mankind on earth.
